Managing Other Opinions Assignment

Managing other opinions is the foundation of influencing other people, a critical skill in today's environment in which MDP students must work with so many people to do their job. People are persuaded by different things. Some people are impressed by a strong, logical argument, while others are swayed by a forceful, impassioned explanation.

1: Participants will interview one CHR manager who seems particularly skilled at gaining agreement from others. Participant will present to the class as to: what techniques does this person use, what does this person do if he/she runs into roadblocks, how does this person state his/her argument, what in particular appeals to you when you listen to this person.

2: In the presentation, each participant will receive peers’ evaluation on the participant’s presentation/communication skills, i.e. his/her ability to influence peers’ opinions to give the highest marks.
